He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Pate and Lemma Ward Pate; his wife Shirley Shipman Pate; his sisters, Doris Myers and Patti Naaman; and his grandson Evan Eisenbrey.
He is survived by: his children, Don (Michelle), Gail Pate of Bridgeton, Joy Pate (Bruce Sherf) of State College, PA and Amy Pate of Black Mountain, NC; his grandchildren, Zachary Pate (Shelbi), Andrew Pate and Jessica Pate; his great grandchild Cecil Austin Pate; and his sisters, Sue Dolbow and Gloria Jean Ziatas.
