She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary (Salim Essa) and Syrian; her husband Philip J. Ganem; and her siblings, George Abraham, Mitchell Abraham, Nancy Pinkney (Essa), Genevieve Essa and Evelyn Zakour (Essa).
She is survived by: her sister Barbara Essa; her children, Mitchell, Lawrence and Jennifer; her children-in-law, Sigrid Johannessen, Lisa Terry and Dan Gilligan; and her grandchildren, Jackson, Kalie, Mae, Ella, Colin and Ruby.
A proud Democrat and tireless advocate for the underrepresented and those in need, Shirley would prefer that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Emily's List (Emily's List) or the Wolfeboro Warmth and More Fund (Wolfeboro Warmth and More Fund).
