It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lois Hughes Vater (Wolfeboro, New Hampshire), born in Boston, Massachusetts, who passed away on May 15, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Helen Scofield Hughes and William Graham Hughes; and her former husband Alton Vater. She is survived by: her husband Hughes Oil; her daughters, Susan Shadford (Stephen) and Carol Merchant (Michael); her grandchildren, Julie Odato, Kerry Friel, Kristin Mustonen and Jill McKenna; her great grandchildren, Elliot, Louisa, Tenley, Sloane, Maeve, Clara and Ada; her nephew Bob Hughes; her nieces, Lynn Hughes Berger and Barbara Hughes; her great-nephew Dana Hughes; and her great-niece Jennifer Hughes.
