She is survived by: her parents, Barbara Shapter and Ken Harkness of Ellicott City, MD; her husband Patrick R. Hostetter of Weare, NH; and her grandparents, Mary and Don Harkness of Madison, WI. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In 2020, during the corona virus pandemic, Kate discovered that she had an aggressive colorectal cancer.
