He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Scanlon (Edge) and Joseph Scanlon. He is survived by: his wife Susan Scanlon (Kozloff) of Salem; his son Joseph Scanlon (Catherine) of Salem, NH; and his sister Joanne Scanlon of Methuen, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's name can be sent to Salem Firefighter's Relief Association, 152 Main St. Salem, NH 03079.
