Craig Ashmore wrote a sympathy message

“To all my Murdock High School Classmates of 1975. Last evening Bob Lapointe passed away in Fla. We were his first class that he taught as a fulltime teacher. He was our teacher but through the years he also became a friend and mentor. He guided us as our class advisor through high school after that awful freshman year when Dave Bessette nearly ran us into the ground. From middle school and then from 10th through 12th there are many stories and memories of just plain fun. I firmly believe we are one of the strongest close knit classes to have ever walked the halls of Murdock because of Bob. To this day friendships remain very strong. We were always together doing fund raisers for both the class and for that incredible class trip to England in April of '75. He kept many of us out of detention by going to Bill Driscoll and telling him he would take care of us. And he did, many a lawn was mowed and raked at his home in Rindge. Many of you may not know this but Bob was also a Fire Chief in Rindge. Also be aware that as a US Air Force veteran Bob will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. So raise a glass to Bob. So fly high with the Angels Bob with the knowledge that your life was one worth living having touched many and making our lives just a little bit that much better. May perpetual light always shine upon you.”
