Blaise Keen wrote a sympathy message

“I met Tim in the second grade at St. Anthony’s Catholic School. I don’t recall details of the second grade other than I believe our teacher was Mrs. Ryan. Tim and I lived about a mile from each other. I have vivid memories of visiting Tim at Heather Lane. The mile bike ride seemed adventurous for a 7-8 year old. Dr. and Mrs. Sheehy were always very nice to me, as were all of Tim’s siblings. I remember being impress that they had a maid in the house at least one day a week. Shortly after we started the 3rd grade, my family moved to Norfolk, VA. My dad was in the Navy and expected to return to the DC area, so he rented out our house on Jan-Mar drive. About 2 years later, we moved back to Jan Mar drive, where I rejoined Tim for the 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. I don’t recall whether we were in the same classes, but we were buddies. We ventured around. Tim loved French fries and one regular adventure was to the lunch counter in Peoples Drug store at Seven Corners. I don’t recall that I ever had any money, so Tim must have paid for the fries. We/he had exactly enough change to buy an order of fries…35-50 cents. We share the fries. I’m sure we didn’t know about tipping. Sometimes from my house we would venture east, through woods by my home (now condos), then through some neighborhood east of Carlyn Springs road, then followed Four Mile Run to Columbia Pike, and then….got an order of fries at a People’s Drug store. I also recall biking to Lubber Run Park from my home. In late summer after 7th grade my father retired from the Navy and my family moved to Ventura, CA. While I was in California, Tim and I regularly exchanged letters, typically trying to make them funny. After a year in California, my dad accepted another position at APL-JHU and we moved to Silver Spring, MD. Silver Spring was much closer to the Sheehy residence, but visiting Tim required more planning and adult cooperation. Sometimes I would get my mom or dad to take me to a bus stop in Wheaton, MD where I could catch a bus to Seven Corners. It took an hour or so, but I would spend a night or two at the Sheehy home. Tim may have come to my home in Silver Spring, but those memories have faded. Through high school Tim and I had frequent phone conversations, I don’t recall what I talked about, but I learned a lot about what was going on at Bishop Ireton high school. I’m not sure if this was before or after the 8th grade, but in addition to visiting Seven Corners for French fries, we would stop at the music store….where they sold piano and organs….not records. Tim would play the vibraphone. Generally the store frowned on such activities, but Tim’s ability to play suppressed the store’s concern that some kid would damage an expensive instrument. After high school we maintained loose contact. We did get together socially a few times in the 80s and I was pleased to attend Tim’s wedding to Lisa. Tim was good about calling me about once year around my birthday or anniversary, dates which he managed to remember. I think our last call was around my birthday in April 2017. Recently I tried to call Tim. His cell phone answering box was full. No one answered Tim’s home number or responded to my voice message. Knowing of his health problems, I sadly looked for and found obituary information on Tim. I will miss Tim. He is an important memory in my life. My prayers go out for Lisa, Christopher, Patrick, and Julia. Blaise Keen”
