He was predeceased by: his sister Ruth Garey (Hanchett). He is survived by: his children, Guy K. and Ruth Hanchett (Blackie); his brother Richard G. Hanchett; his children, Heather Burns (Mark) of China Grove, Shane Hanchett (Jackie) of Nelson, Dana Hanchett of Virginia Beach and Kerry Daley (Mike) of Walnut Creek; and his grandchildren, Tasha Nicholson (Mark) of Dublin, Joshua Hanchett (Roz) of Peterborough, Crystal Biteng (VerAnthony) of Virginia Beach, Dillon Daley and Tylir Daley of Walnut Creek. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
