He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kainu, Sr. and Impi Kainu (Kiviaho); his siblings, Kaino Brown, Alli Wheeler, Bertha Henderson and Lauri Kainu; his daughter Laurie Ann Kainu; and his pet Ragnar.
He is survived by: his children, Ricky Kainu, Lisa Miller (Ron), Angelique Hamilton, John Kainu III (Honi), Angela Bushway (Walter), Erik Kainu (Sarah), Eryn Kainu and Alli Kainu-Davey (Daniel); and his close friend Greg Hamel. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newport Senior Center or Newport Food Pantry.
