He was predeceased by: his brother Matthew; his father Harry Hayes; and his stepfather William Carruth. He is survived by: his mother Karen Carruth (O'Keefe) of Newbury, NH; his children, Patrick, Marloes Hayes, Anna and Sien of The Netherlands; his stepbrother Robert (Emma Carruth); his nieces and nephews, Olivia, Benjamin, Tyler, Jacob, Hailey, Charlie and Oscar; and his great-nephew Harry.
