With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mildred Schappals (Nashua, New Hampshire), born in Worcester, Massachusetts, who passed away on June 9, 2021 at the age of 103. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mildred Schappals to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel M. Lyons and Honorah Lyons (Harrington); her former husband Everett A. "Gus" Schappals; and her siblings, Joseph of Alhambra, CA, Paul of Brewster, MA and Helen Downing.
She is survived by: her spouse Navy; her daughters, Jade Walsh of Jackson Hole, WY and Julia Schappals (Harris) of Bedford, NH; her nephew Paul H. Lyons, Jr. of Cape Cod; and her niece Maureen Knapp of Fairfax, VA. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and numerous great grand nieces and nephews.
Ever the tough survivor, at the age of ten months, she survived a nearly fatal bout of the 1918 flu, a pandemic that claimed fifty million lives worldwide.
