Fred L. Smith Jr. Obituary

NASHUA- Fred L. Smith Jr., 88, died peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at home with his loving son and his daughter-in-law. He was the beloved husband of the late Donna (DesChamps) Smith.

Fred was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 5, 1932, and was the son of the late Fred. L. Sr. and Anna (McFarland) Smith.

For many years, Fred was employed as a supervisor in the Sewer Department for the City of Cambridge until his retirement.

In his free time, he enjoyed the simple things which included watching TV and desserts especially a good ice cream sandwich or a banana split. Fred was an avid Bingo player and loved sports. Above all his most cherished time was spent with his late wife, Donna and his family.

Fred is survived by his two children, Fred L. Smith and his wife Marion of Merrimack and Tara Grandmont of South Carolina; his nine grandchildren, Marion, Sami, Casi, Autumn, Tre-Anthony, Hannah, Arianna, Adelani, and Logan. He is also survived by his five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alexander, Azaria, Azlynn, and Jonathan; and his two sisters, Margaret Haggerty of Derry and Kathleen White of Saugus, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Fred is predeceased by his sisters Anna Bonvie, Theresa Kelleher, and Dorothy Pacheco, and his brother William Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fred's WALK THROUGH visitation on MONDAY, January 4th from 10 until 11:30 AM in ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His. Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 11:30AM. Interment will take place at the convenience of his family. Donations may be made in Fred's name to the Humane Society.
