James Frels Obituary
James Wesley "Jim" Frels, 68 years, of Greenwood, Indiana, formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa died March 31, 2016 at his home. He was born September 27, 1947 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Wesley F. and Vivian V. (Bell) Frels. Jim was a graduate of the Fort Madison High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jim received a B.S.
Degree in Transportation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 1969. After graduation, he was a marketing official for the Western Pacific Railroad and Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco, The Indiana Rail Road, Batteries Plus and most recently Omni-Source, retiring in 2014. He was a member of the North Lee County Historical Society in Fort Madison, Iowa.
He is survived by his two sisters: Denise (husband Dennis) Orona, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa and Janet Frels, of Aurora, Colorado and two nephews: David and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with memorial services starting at 10:30 am Saturday April 16, 2016 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Iowa, with Pastor Bill Willis officiating.
Burial will be held at Soldier's Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's memory for the steam engine can be sent to the North Lee County Historical Society, P.O. Box 258, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627 or during the service at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
