He was predeceased by: his parents, James V. Hoey Sr. and Marie Hoey (Efinger); his brother James; and his son Tommy Hoey. He is survived by: his close friend Eleanor Buchler of Lebanon, NJ; his children, Erin Williams (Bill) of Greenland, NH, Meghan Gecek (Mike) and Jan Gaweda (Christine) of Limerick, PA; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Kiera, Meghan, Reagan, Riley, Molly, Michael, Danielle and Christopher; his nieces, Kelly and Shannon; and his nephew Patrick.
