He was predeceased by: his parents, Darwin Charles "Dub" Hurlbert and Katheryn "Kay" Josephine Reynolds; and his sisters, Judith Forbes, Nancy Bishop, Linda Bishop and Bonnie Marshall.

He is survived by: his wife Eileen Hurlbert (Dobson) of Lancaster; his children, Darwin "BJ" Hurlbert Jr. (Amanda Sarazin) of Dalton and Jan Surridge (Roger Hartshorn) of Whitefield; his granddaughters, Megan Surridge and Melissa Clark (Sean); and his great grandchildren, Colton and Mia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
