He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Stern and Armatha Stern; and his former wife Linda Ann Stern. He is survived by: his wife Sueann MacRae Stern; his daughters, Lee Stern-Hall (Brad) of Erie, CO and Dana Kenny (Jason) of Gilford, NH; his stepchildren, Gregory MacRae of Laconia, NH and Rita MacRae of Asheville, NC; and his grandchildren, Mae Elizabeth Kenny, Stratford Paul Kenny, Aiden Gianunzio and Isaac Chandler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sonny's name to Midwest Rescue, 945 Barrington Road, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.
