He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleanor Hastings (Wilder) and Herman Hastings; his daughter Eleanor Hastings; and his siblings, Herman Hastings, Ella Miller and Alton Hastings, Sr..
He is survived by: his wife Jean Hastings of Winchester, NH; his son Herman Hastings of Swanzey, NH; his grandson Mathew Van Hastings (Nicole); his great grandchild Tucker Herbert Hastings of Marlow, NH; and his sisters, Jessie Hallowell of Swanzey, NH and Dottie Bohannan of Northfield, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Van W. Hastings' name to a charity of one's choice.
