He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Hastings and Eleanor Hastings (Wilder); his wife Sandra Joyce Hastings (Cookie); and his siblings, Herman Hastings and Ella Miller.

He is survived by: his sons, Randy Hastings (Barb) of Richmond, NH, Jason Hastings (Jackie) of Stoddard, NH and Alton Hastings, Jr. (Sarah) of Wentworth, NH; and his siblings, Van Hastings (Jean) of Winchester, NH, Jessie Hallowell of Swanzey, NH and Dottie Bohannan of Northfield, MA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
