He was predeceased by: his wife Mary A. (McGrath); his son Garry McGourty; his parents, Lawrence McGourty and Clara McGourty (Kiley); and his siblings, Lawrence McGourty, Ellen Belden, William McGourty and Dorothy Goslin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Paula McGourty (Larry Herring) of Clifton, VA and Marcia Powers (Stephen Gallagher) of Hudson, NH; his grandchildren, Derek Powers of Wilmington, Christine Mendonca (Jason) of Pelham, NH and Michael Herring (Jordan) of Petersburg, VA.; and his great grandchildren, Garry, Derek, Jayden, Paige, Brandon, Abraham, Francesca, Simkha, Eleanor, Sebastian and Yokhanan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 17th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the DeVito Funeral Home (1145 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA 02476). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Saint Agnes Church (32 Medford St, Arlington, MA 02474). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery (70 Medford St, Arlington, MA 02474).
