He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Katherine L. Hanaway (Ryan) and James F. Hanaway; his friends, Ed, Doug and Appalachian Trail; his son Thomas; his brothers, James F. Hanaway Jr. and Paul J. Hanaway; his wife Betty Hanaway; his daughters, Chris Morgan of Portsmouth, NH, Carrie Kendig of Kailua Kona, HI and Kelly Merchant of Kennebunk, ME; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Hanaway and Ruth Hanaway of Greenville, RI; his cousin Ted Windle of Apopka, FL; his grandchildren, Kate Anne, Morgan, Kyle, Brandon, Libby and Rob; and his nieces and nephews, Dawn, Jeff, Deb and John.
At the behest of former PSC President Bill Farrell, Dick and Betty made a generous contribution to Silver Hall with the proviso that the arts center be a bridge between the town and the campus.
