He was predeceased by: his parents, George Elwyn Brooks and Altha Renell Brooks Roy. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Brooks; his children, Elwyn Brooks (Penny) of Orford, NH, Jeff Brooks (Susan) of Mt Pleasant, SC and Carolyn Kanalos (Marc) of Fort Wayne, IN; his stepsons, Chris Jacobs of Piermont, NH, Bruce Jacobs of San Jose, CA and Thale Jacobs (Julie Christopher); his brothers, Lynn Brooks (Lissie) of Avon and Chuck Brooks (Doris) of Middle River, MD.; and his grandchildren, Shelby Brooks, Becca Kanalos, Jessica Kanalos, Amber Brooks, Autumn Brooks, Brad Brooks, Emily Grace Person, Tallulah Person and Emma Brooks.
