He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Burwell and Marian L. Burwell (Elmer); his wife Vera Burwell (Cotton); and his siblings, Ruth Bellitti and Wesley Burwell of Exeter.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rev. Deborah Knowlton of Hampton and Dr. Rebecca J. Corvey of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren, Kathryn Corvey, Matthew Corvey (Elise), Sarah Knowlton and Daniel Knowlton (Laura); and his great grandchildren, Joseph and Paul Corvey.
