Akerman and Alice I Akerman (Cowan); his wife Juanita Akerman (Bliss) of Franklin; his daughters, Lisa Akerman (Nigel Foskin) of Manchester and Melissa Akerman (John Malcolm) of Franklin; his grandchildren, Mia, Haley, Jacob, Alexa and Tyrell; and his siblings, Barbara (Norman Joyce) of Sanbornton, Nancy DeBlois of Bristol, Betsy (Dennis Trottier) of Salisbury, Cindy (Raymond Defosses) of Franklin, Larry Akerman (Josette), Donald Akerman and Norman Akerman. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
