Wayne M. Soucy Obituary
Barrington, NH - Wayne M. Soucy, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Frisbie, Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH. Born on February 13, 1956, in Rochester, NH, he was the son of Leo L. Soucy and Lillian (Dodier) Soucy. Wayne graduated from Noble High School in 1974, playing football throughout his time there. He went on to attend Maine Maritime Academy, where he received a bachelor's degree and learned his challenging career in the Merchant Marine. Wayne played college football and was featured in the paper.
He was known as "Super, Souc" or sometimes just "Supah.". He worked most of his life as a Chief Engineer for the Merchant Marine. He liked to joke that he was the UPS, of the high seas and he took pride in a job well done. His love of football extended into his later years, as he was a huge Patriots fan. Wayne also loved Rock n' Roll, music and riding around on his Harley. Wayne was a social, friendly guy who was very funny and had a loud, booming laugh. He was always ready to have a good time and even more ready to make new friends.
He was, the life of the party wherever he went. Wayne enjoyed being a "snowbird" with his wife Lisa. He spent his summers in New England, and especially, loved having his granddaughter to Kettle Cove in Casco, ME. He liked to escape the cold in the winter and, enjoy life in Deland, FL. He used those warm winters to enjoy motorcycle riding, attending Bike Week at Daytona Beach as well as an occasional round of golf. Wayne will be most remembered for his great sense of humor, his ability to find good in others, and a desire to find common ground with anyone and become friends.
He will also be remembered fondly for the nicknames he, created for everyone he knew and cared about. He is predeceased by his parents, Leo and Lillian Soucy, his brothers, Leo and Dennis Soucy, and his nephew, Michael Soucy. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Lisa E. (Campbell) Soucy, his son, Eric D. Soucy, his daughters, Carrie A. Soucy-Kahl and her husband John Kahl & daughter Juliet A. Kahl, and Katie L. Wentworth and her husband Zeke Wentworth, his sister Camille "Cammy" St. Hilaire, his brother David P. Soucy and his wife Carole, his cousin and best friend, Brad Cullen, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He will be greatly missed. A visitation with sharing will take place on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10AM-1PM at Tasker Funeral Home located at 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH 03820, directly followed by burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW in Somersworth immediately following.
