He was predeceased by: his father Samuel Hanscom; his former wife Marilyn Hanscom (Brann); his children, Scott Hanscom and Lainie Reynolds; his grandson Danny Hanscom; and his sister Barbara.

He is survived by: his children, Vickie Hanscom, Sandra Leidenheimer (Jim), Kevin Hanscom, Kenneth Hanscom (Sheri), Kristy Hanscom (Kayne), Timothy Hanscom, Michael Hanscom, Jeff Hanscom and Bonnie Hanscom (Paul); and his stepchildren, Linnette Ross (Fred), Larry Reynolds (Leann), Lori Emerson (Jerry) and Lance Reynolds (Donna). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Buzzy was also very proud to be one of the founders of the New Hampshire Working Dog Foundation.
