He was predeceased by: his father William Henry Schefer, Sr.; and his stepfather Albert West. He is survived by: his children, Jessica, Jonathan Langevin, Michelle, Steve Bedard, Sarah Jubrey-MacAllister, Adam MacAllister, Matthew Taheri, Hannah Lipscomb and Richard Bussiere; his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Audrey, Jack, Jude, Layla, Alec, Olivia, Xander and River; his parents-in-law, Dorothy Kinsley, Donald Kinsley and Sandra Scheyes; his nieces and nephews, Lee (Chelsea), Mary (Mike), Kathryn (Myles), Madelyn (Jillian), Elizabeth, William, Dylan, Mallory and Elle; and his close friend Kathy Paquin. He is also survived by one of five siblings.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of David may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital in support of Dr. Zofia Piotrowska's and her team's lung cancer research.
