He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Scheffer and Henry Scheffer; his wife Caryl Scheffer; his grandson Brandon Macek; and his sister Doris Kretz.
He is survived by: his children, Peter (Lisa Scheffer), Roger (Robin Scheffer), Diana (Jim Booth), Mexico, Bridget (Todd Chicone), Betsy (Steve Macek), David (Robin Scheffer) and Cate (Jeff Millette); his brother Conrad Scheffer; his grandchildren, Daniel, Bethany, Philip, Tristan, Heather, Justin, Hillary, Genevieve, Chloe, Max, Olivia and Esmay; and his great grandchildren, Cohen, Benjamin, Sienna, Wren, Emily and Logan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Fire and Rescue.
