He was predeceased by : his parents, Philip Kamens and Gloria Kamens (Pomerantz); and his nephew Jacob Kamens. He is survived by : his wife Stora Montgomery Kamens; his children, Ben Kamens (Rebecca) of Palo Alto, CA, Jacob Hammond (Ashley) of Chicago, IL, Jessica Kamens of Rochester, NY, Sarah Kamens of Kansas City, KS, Paige Rice (Adam) of Saint Augustine, FL and Laura Dwyer (Jon) of Gilmanton, NH; his brother Matthew Kamens (Liz) of Bryn Mawr, PA; and his grandchildren, Ben, Jayda, Max, Adrienne, Lila, Grayson, Ellie, Eleanor, Adler, Savannah, Jack and Finn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

For his contribution to technology in Emergency Medicine, Donald received numerous awards from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), including the Lifetime Achievement Award in Informatics (2003), and the Presidential Commendation for Outstanding. Contribution to the Field of Emergency Medicine Informatics and Emergency Medicine Care (2007).

“Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Donald: I met Donald Freshman Year at Franklin and Marshall. We were also Fraternity Brothers. After Graduation, over the next 45 years our paths only crossed five or six times, but I thought about Donald fondly a thousand times and more. Because upon our earliest meeting he gave me a very precious gift. He introduced me to the music of Bob Dylan. RIP, My Brother… Robert Brown”
