He is survived by: his spouse Patricia Gerdes; his daughter Kimberley Polen of Texas; his granddaughters, Brandis Cowern (Read) of Des Moines and Kylee Polen of Fremont; his great grandchildren, Calvin, Genevieve and Todd; his sister-in-law Norma Hartung; his nieces, LeAnn Karmann and Shara Wagner; and his nephew Kent Hartung.
