He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Barrett and Marie Barrett (Winterhalter); his son Jason; his parents-in-law, Wilbert and Lorna Schmeiding; and his sister Jean.

He is survived by: his brother Welding; his wife Evelyn "Evie" Schmeiding of York; his son Tyler Barrett (Joyce Thomas) of York; his grandchildren, Sierra Barrett (Amber), Natasha Barrett (Stephan), Kevin, Tiffany, Matthew, Maline and A. J.; his great grandchildren, Kayden, Nevaya, Sapphire, Wyatt, Jason, Vera and Gabriel; his brother Roy Barrett (Judy) of Lincoln; and his niece Cari Berner (Todd) of Seward. He is also survived by brothers and sisters -in-law and other relatives.
