Vernelle was predeceased by: husband Leroy Haertel; great grandchild Emma Haertel; parents, Walter Damme and Rosa Maria Damme; and brother Kenneth Damme.
Vernelle is survived by: children, Jerry Haertel (Patti) of Lincoln, Kent Haertel (Mary) of Greenwood and Patty Scheel of Waverly; grandchildren, Jennifer Pandey (Braj), Garrett Haertel (Meaghan), Paige Dahlbeck (Chris), Chris Haertel (Lyndee), Lisa Effle (Dustin) and Chad Scheel (Rachel); great grandchildren, Sophia Pandey, Lilia Pandey, Donnbhain, Reilly, Alannah Haertel, Ayzlee, Kade, Cohen, Caige Haertel, Jameson, Beck, Cora Effle and Knox Scheel; and sisters, Beverly Schroeder of Syracuse and Jacki Hubbs of Fort Smith.
