She was predeceased by: her parents, Aaron Thompson and Fae Thompson (Conrad); her husband Ervin Kitt; her parents-in-law, John J. and Mary Kitt; her stepfather D. C. Harvey; and her siblings, Sunshine Pogge, Ramona Cackler, Gloria June Skiles, Patricia Kitt, Conrad "Buddy" Thompson and Ronald Thompson.
She is survived by: her children, Candy Jo, Denise Fae and Keenan Ervin; her grandchildren, Kyle Kitt (Emma) of Fort Collins, CO, Mandi Kramer (Beau) of Wauneta, NE, Ashley Spahn (David) of Haigler, NE, Cassie Kohl (Taylor) of Omaha, NE, Maddie Giamello (Anthony) of Dallas, TX and John Kitt (Amanda Shrout) of McCook, NE.; her great grandchildren, Marlee, Brooks Kramer, Will, Thomas Kohl, Gabrielle, Abraham Spahn and Baby Giamello; and her stepsisters, Lorraine Einspahr and Elaine Condron. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial has been established in Joan's memory to the Wauneta United Methodist Church.
