He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Maddux and Eva Maddux (Fanning); his brother Eugene Maddux; and his siblings-in-law, Loree Maddux, Sylvia Burke and Edward Burke.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Smith; his children, John Glen, Sandra Louise, Mary Ann, John Maddux (Julia) of Imperial, NE, Sandra Maddux of West Linn, OR and Mary Smith (Matt) of Walnut Creek, CA.; his grandchildren, Gabriel Smith (Laura) of East Haddam, Virgil Smith of Stanford, CA, Jacob Smith of San Diego, CA, Jackson Smith, Eva Smith of Walnut Creek, CA, Luke Conklin, Rebecca Conklin of West Linn, OR, Taylor Maddux and Thomas Maddux of Imperial, NE.; and his great grandchildren, James, Madeleine and John Alexander Smith of East Haddam, CT..
