He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Mahaney and Veronica Mahaney (Gatzemeyer); and his wife Patricia "Patsy" Mahaney. He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Rose McGowen; his children, Michael Mahaney (Gina) of Walthill, NE and Madonna Nelsen (Rick) of Homer, NE; his brother-in-law Bill McGowen; and his friends, Evelyn McManigal and Cory Wiebelhaus. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
