He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ahrends and Eulida Ahrends (Hughes); his siblings, Richard, Larry and Sandra; and his wife Sharon.

He is survived by: his children, John Ahrends (Candace) and Sherry Dea (Derrick); his sister Shirley Kringel (Don); his grandchildren, Kaelan Dea (Jessica), Meghan Dea (Travis), Lorelei Ahrends, Jessica Dea (Edgar) and Andrea Dea (Ben); his great grandchild Colton Dea; and his uncle Don. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
