He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Janssen and Arene Janssen (Hippen); his brother Norman Janssen; and his brother-in-law Russell Smoker. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Smoker; his children, Crystal Workman (Charles) of Darien, Illinois and Mitchell Janssen (Rebecca) of Virginia; his grandchildren, Madeline, Brock, Jameson, Nolan Janssen, McKenna and Braeden Workman; his brother Steven Janssen (Angela) of Virginia; and his siblings-in-law, Clara Janssen of Seward, Rita Smoker of Kansas and Guy Smoker. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the mortuary.
