He was predeceased by : his parents, Virgil Vernon and Violet Vernon (Berry). He is survived by : his children, Mark (Colleen) of Lincoln, Brent (Janell) of Wilber, Neil (Jody) of Reno, NV, Wade (Kim) of Fairbury and Michelle Kliment (Michael) of Dorchester; his siblings, Fritz Vernon (Marsha) of Pleasant Dale, NE, William Vernon, Donald Vernon of Crete and Debra Hammond of Lincoln; and his caregiver Nondo Merano. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are to the family for future designation, can be made out to the James Vernon Memorial and sent to Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
