He was predeceased by: his parents, Stan Harms and Metta Harms; his siblings, Stanley J. Harms and Sue Turner; his niece Candace Harms; and his brothers-in-law, Ron Gilroy, Jerry Merz and Larry Hain.
He is survived by: his wife Suzie Harms (Sears); his sisters, Mallene Gilroy and Lesa Harms; his children, Melinda Mattson (Jay) and Marty Harms (Elycia); his grandchildren, Bodie Mattson, Talen and Braxn Harms; and his siblings-in-law, Lawrence Turner and Pat Harms. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorials in Sonny's memory may be made to the family in lieu of flowers to be given to the American Heart Association.
