He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Fred and Mary Ellen Chubb (Saxton); his wife Iris June Miller; his siblings, Cecil, Lyle Chubb and Wanda Pelren; and his son-in-law Mark Custer.

He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Kay and Barbara Gail; his friend Bobby Carr; his sister Ruby Newell of Indiana; his nieces, Susan Custer of Alliance, NE and Barbara Harms (Jim) of Valentine, NE.; his grandchildren, Travis Lurz (Shantel) of Hyannis, NE, Brittany Schroeder (Garrett) of Grand Island, NE, John Harms (Alicia) of Valentine, NE, Heather Mizner (Kody) of Valentine, NE, Matthew Custer of Wichita, KS and Mitchell Custer of Manhattan, KS; his great grandchild Wade Lurz; and his grandchildren, William, Bennett Schroeder, Hunter, Kayleigh, Sophia Harms and Waylon Mizner.

Memorials may be given to the Valentine Methodist Church.
