He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hansen and Mamie Hansen (Appel); his wife Veda Louise Rice; his brother Orville Hansen; his siblings-in-law, Howard Petersen, Robert Rice and Dorothy Rice; and his nephew Kenny Hansen.

He is survived by: his children, Victoria Olson (Scott) of Axtell, NE, Van Hansen (Linda) of Herman, NE and Valerie Lindstrom (Scott) of Oakland, NE; his brother Gene Hansen (Linda) of Tekamah; and his sisters-in-law, Virginia Hansen of Tekamah and Janet Petersen of Bancroft, NE. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.
