He was predeceased by: his father Roland; and his grandparents, Ethel, Lee Shafer, Nadine and John Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Harriet; his daughters, Jamy Tablazon (Phil) and Leigh Elwood (Shannon); his grandchildren, Maddy, Max and Macy Elwood; and his siblings, Mike Shafer (Kathy), Matt Shafer and Wendy Carlson (Doug).
