She was predeceased by: her parents, Spencer Bates and Lucy Bates (Blakely); her husband John Mahar; her grandson Aaron Rabstejnek; and her siblings, Charles Bates, Helen McPherrin, Bette Morrissey, Mildred James, Bob Bates and Mary Alice Bossong.
She is survived by: her children, Bette Rabstejnek of Table Rock and Pat Mahar of Syracuse; and her granddaughter Katie Mahar of Syracuse. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
