It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hugo Westphal Jr. in Syracuse, Nebraska, who passed away on October 5, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugo L. Westphal Sr. and Margaret F. Iford Westphal; his brothers, Kenneth Westphal and Ronald Westphal; his son Hugo L Westphal III; and his grandson Tristan Westphal.
He is survived by: his former wife Clara Ethel Childers; his sons, Stephen and Matthew (Karla) of Lawrence, KS; his wife Kathleen Westphal (Purcell); his son Steve (Michelle) of Lawrence, KS; his daughter-in-law Annie Westphal; his siblings, Dr. Dan Westphal (Phyllis) of Boca Raton, FL, Carl Westphal of Seabeck, WA and Nancy Schukman (Jay) of Richmond, VA; his stepdaughters, Shelley Wagner (Dale), Cindy Freeman (CJ) and Deb Connaway (Wes); and his grandchildren, Schuyler Westphal and Chanelle Ludwig. He is also survived by six step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
