She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Witt and Leata Witt of Syracuse, Nebraska.; her husband Dr. Harold Gately; her sister Juneta Allerheiligan of Colorado; and her granddaughter Dr. Tanya Leise of Massachusetts.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Dr. Carisa Kymissis of New York, Mark Gately of Colorado and Lynn Gately of Zurich. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

Memorial donations are suggested to be made to Luther Memorial Church or the Syracuse Area Churches Food Pantry.

“I watered Alys’s yard and took care of her flowers for the last 6 years. Alys would come check on me, especially on the hot days! I loved our chats we shared about family and our pets! She loved our smoked meat as I would always bring her sandwiches, one for lunch and one for dinner. She always called when Loretta’s Donuts was in town and I would grab each of us one. In fact, I am so glad I picked one up for her 1 1/2 wks ago, as that will be my last memory of Alys. May she RIP Kim Bennett”
