He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Toline and Lillie Toline (Carlson); and his siblings, Harlan, Ruby Farris, Eda Peterson, Beulah Hagan and Doris Whitney.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Henggeler of Stromsburg; his daughter Cindy Klein (Dave) of Kearney; his grandchildren, Chelsea Carlson of Omaha, Grant Carlson (McKenzie) of Lake Stevens, WA and Bryce Carlson of Lincoln; and his sister Francis Wafer of Colorado. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

“Uncle Vance was always my favorite. I loved his roaring laugh and his tender heart. He would take me and my sister with him on the tractor when he worked in the fields. My dad, Dale Allison, loved to hunt with Vance every year when pheasant season rolled around. We always had a good time with Aunt Elaine and Uncle Vance when we came back to Nebraska. He loved his family deeply and will be missed tremendously . My Love to Aunt Elaine, Cindy, Chelsea, Bryce, and Grant”
