He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Hassler and Hildegard Hassler (Renner); his sister Darlene Vacha; his brother-in-law Dave Gubbels; and his nephews, Chad Gubbels and James Kaup.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Marie Svitak; his sons, Jason Hassler (Trisha) of Norfolk and Jeremy Hassler (Megan) of Wisner; his grandchildren, Colton, Garett, Levi, Allie and Bria; his siblings, LaVonne Gubbels of Norfolk, Joyce Blumer (Bill) of Fremont, Alvera Prather (Jeff) of Madison, Marvin Hassler (Deb) of Madison and Evelyn Frisch (Allen) of Madison; and his brother-in-law Richard Vacha of Clarkson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
