He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward M. Bortscheller and Marie Bortscheller (Rupp); his parents-in-law, Robert and Violet Hieb; his brother Kenny; and his brother-in-law Dale Hieb.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hieb; his stepdaughter Cari Fleek (Ryan) of Elk Point; his grandson Cooper Fleek of Elk Point; his siblings, Bev Essler (Steve) of Thornton, Dave Bortscheller (Sharon) of Remsen and Kathy Lawler (Mike) of Elk Point; his in-laws, Mike Hieb (Val) of Brandon, Gary Heib (Patti) of Cottleville, Rose Robertson (Reg) of Shawnee and Curt Hieb (Diana) of Camdenton, Missouri; his aunts, Norma Clark, Mary O'Leary and Shirley Sims; and his friends, Bud Nelson and Bill Addison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
