Jim Pearson wrote a sympathy message

“We will miss our friend. He was my Army buddy. I remember the trip we took through West Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands when we were stationed in West Germany together. When we were returning to West Germany on the car ferry, we were almost broke so we didn't have enough money to buy the meal on board the ferry across the North Sea. Later we found out that the meal was included in the ferry fee. We didn't speak Danish so us dumb Americans starved. Lots of laughs.”
