She was predeceased by: her parents, Percy Cartwright and Ellen Cartwright (Dodd); her husband Earl Geu; her brothers, Michael and John Cartwright; and her siblings-in-law, Henry, Ann Geu, Arlene, Rodney Mathewson and Harold Geu.
She is survived by: her children, Pamela Lay of Hastings, Jan Thelen of Lincoln and Tom Geu (Carol) of Vermillion; her grandchildren, Cody Lay (Elizabeth), Andrew Thelen (Becca), Joanie Huebner (Jack), Rikki Frey (James) and Taylor Geu; her great grandchildren, Gavin Lay, Isabel Lay, Xavier Martin and Ezra Thelen; her sister Nancy Hamer (Richard); and her sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Geu and Jeanetta Drueke Cartwright. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sidney, Nebraska; Cheyenne County Historical Society, or the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society at Chadron State College.
