With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Miriam R Matthews of Seward, Nebraska, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 15, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Verona Gutekunst (Pieper) and Rev. Carl Gutekunst; her brother Carl Gutekunst; and her grandson Jacob Allen Matthews. She is survived by: her husband Larry Matthews of Seward, Nebraska; her sons, Michael Matthews (Julie) of Sidney, Nebraska, David Matthews of Monrovia and Steven Matthews (Nancy) of Duluth, Minnesota; and her grandchildren, Emily Parrott (Andrew), Alyssa Kershaw (Adam), Noah Matthews (Madison), Zoekia Scherkenbach (Justin), JoJamba Abrams (Grant), Andrew Matthews (Katie) and Ian Matthews. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 20th 2024 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Volzke Funeral Home (147 Main St, Seward, NE 68434). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 21st 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (3743 Marysville Rd, Staplehurst, NE 68439).
